Weight limit tested by supporting the front end of a truck on 2 PETT toilets. The drip edge under the seat keeps the top of the waste collection bag clean for easy disposal. Each PETT toilet comes with a removable mesh net holder that supports the waste collection bag, a removable lid for stability on soft terrain when in use and to protect the seat when not in use. The Poo Powder waste treatment controls odors and contains a decay catalyst that breaks down solid waste.
Play slideshow Adding a hot tub to a deck project requires creativity and close attention to structural details. Even when clients already have a specific tub in mind, they usually have only a vague idea of where it should go and how it should be integrated with the rest of the deck. And most haven’t thought at all about the special framing needed or the impact that it can have on a deck’s design.
This is where we—the deck designers and builders—come in. Structural Support Hot tubs must be placed on a flat, level surface, such as a concrete slab or a deck, without any shims.
Hooking up a volt hot tub involves an electrician integrating the main house panel with a 50 or 60 amp breaker, the external GFCI/disconnect box and the spa pak/hot tub controller box. Be sure that the GFCI should corresponds to the house breaker, so for instance a 60A GFCI should be .
These are generic instructions on how to set up an inflatable hot tub. Of course, you will want to refer to the user manual for your specific model see below for the proper guidelines and steps, but this outline will give you a general idea of the steps to take. Select a Location The first step to setting up any whirlpool tub is to find a flat, smooth, level surface.
The location also must be able to support the weight of the unit, contained water and users at all times. Prepare for Inflation Next, take the spa out of the package and spread it out where you plan on using it. Attach the inflation valve securely to the liner. Inflate Now, we shall inflate the spa using the pump. Plug in the pump.
Going to show you how to connect your spa to your home network using the iPhone app. And we have our spa, WiFi module here, okay, which is called Arctic Spas and this is what comes inside your spa, and we just have it out for demonstration purposes. See that little blue arrow there? Okay, and it will be Okay, so that all looks good.
• A manual disconnect device, often called a spa panel, between your home’s electrical breaker panel and the spa. The disconnect device solves the problem of false tripping that occurs if the spa is wired directly to a two-pole GFCI breaker.
Fairbanks, AK Thanks for the info on the Laing pump. I’m not used to working on spas so I had no idea what to look for. This pump only draws 98 watts so it will be extremely economical to operate. I still need to figure out the best way to incorporate this into the spa plumbing. If I tee them into the existing plumbing the circulator will probably backfeed within the lines and not circulate within the tub very well.
I like the idea of teeing into an existing line but worry about how it would work when the main pump is on high and pumping lots of water. I might be able to place one tee just after the main pump and then tee the supply line just before it goes into a jet. Would the small circular be damaged by this extra water pressure? This sounds like it might be the easiest way to go. If I run the circulator constantly how do I control the temperature?
My wood boiler is on a secondary loop with an aquastat set to that controls the pump that pulls heat into the primary loop. There is no chance of this dropping the temps to the boiler, but it could drop the temps to the house. I figured the average heat required by the hot tub is only about 30, BTUs per day so it will not take much to keep it hot.
I really want to get this right the first time to save myself both time and money.
There is no simple answer to these questions. Before we can answer them, we need to know about the beginning water temperature, heater power, heat loss, surface area, heat retention, and final use temperature. Cost of operation depends on insulation, surface area, and energy cost. Heater power Electric heaters come in three sizes: Each heater has a different rise rate.
Once the tub is filled with water, you will need to get the main breaker turned on to the spa pack and the hot tub. It may take several hours for the hot tub to heat up. Use this time to familiarize yourself with the features and operation of your hot tub.
If you have built your own, you will need to plumb it. Once the jets, heater, blower and pump are in place you will need to connect them. Flexible PVC pipe is the best to use around the hot tub to connect the jets. However, when you are connecting the heater, blower and pump you are going to want to use the rigid plastic pipe. Measure all around your tub, first, then measure the distances from your blower and pump to the jets.
These measurements will be the length of PVC pipe you will need. Also, you will need to use glue that is specially designed to “weld” PVC, this is available at the hardware store where you purchase the pipe.

A related paper on a solar home using a similar flooded subfloor heat storage scheme. The solar collector shown here was developed in the 70’s as a very inexpensive greenhouse heater. It works well for situations in which only low temperatures are required like greenhouses and pools. The papers give information on a several greenhouse energy schemes, so you have to wade through all this to find the details on building the collector.
The collectors described in the paper are quite large, but could be scaled down.
